2022 World Grand Prix Darts Semi-final Results, Venue, Tickets, & Nathan Aspinall vs Michael van Gerwen Final Schedule
Van Gerwen, a five-time World Grand Prix champion, defeated Peter Wright in a one-sided match while conceding just one leg to go to the final. While this was going on, Aspinall outdueled 2020 champion Gerwyn Price by a score of 4-2 to fend off the Welshman’s late revival and emotionally secure his maiden appearance in the World Grand Prix final. Ahead of Sunday’s much-anticipated final between Nathan Aspinall and Michael van Gerwen, bookmakers have labelled van Gerwen as overwhelming favorite with 3/10 odd while Aspinall has odd chances of 5/2 for winning the title.
Following the World Championship in December of last year, Aspinall took a six-week vacation from competition to receive medical attention for a significant wrist injury. Since his comeback to competition in February, he has won two ranking events, but this week’s double-start World Grand Prix in Leicester has seen him at his best. After victories against Michael Smith, Danny Noppert, and Martin Lukeman, he sensationally stopped world number one Price’s attempt to go to a third straight World Grand Prix final. This year, Van Gerwen won the Premier League and the World Matchplay while also bouncing back from wrist surgery to prove his naysayers wrong.
