Van den Bergh defeated Lourence Ilagan 3-0 late on Saturday night at Alexandra Palace, posting the highest average and highest checkout of the competition thus far. During this tie, the former World Matchplay champion averaged 97.20 and dropped just two legs before securing resounding victory to qualify for the third-round. Daryl Gurney was the first seeded player to exit the competition after losing to Alan Soutar, who once more dazzled on the Ally Pally stage, 3-0.
