2022-23 PDC World Darts Championship Day 2 Results, Winners, Score, Upcoming Schedule, Venue, Draw, & Playing Line-up
With a 96 average, three 180s, and finishes of 114 & 130 on Day Two at Alexandra Palace, fourth-seed Smith made a statement, as he clinched nine straight legs to guarantee his spot in round three. Elsewhere, two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis performed admirably in his opening match on Friday, and William O’Connor outclassed young phenom Beau Greaves with a polished performance.
Smith won the first set without a challenge after taking out 114, and the second set continued in the same manner as Rafferty struggled in the outer ring. Then, Smith raised the stakes in the final rounds, throwing six darts that were perfect to threaten the first nine-darter of this year’s championship, and then he produced a breathtaking 130 finish on the bull to win in grand style.
On Friday night, O’Connor put on an impressive display to defeat Greaves, who made history on her debut at Alexandra Palace, in straight sets. The Stoke-on-Trent star Lewis beat Sweden’s top-ranked Daniel Larsson 3-0 earlier in the day to start his quest for a third Sid Waddell Trophy. During Saturday’s matches of World Darts Championship, Alan Soutar will clash against Daryl Gurney and Dimitri Van den Bergh will face-off against Lourence Ilagan.
