2023 FIDE World Chess Championship schedule, date, time, venue, format, & participating players
The World Chess Championship 2023, which will take place from April 7 to May 1, will crown a new world chess champion. Within this period, the matches of this tournament will take place at the St. Regis Astana Hotel in Astana, Kazakhstan. Following the withdrawal of the defending champion Magnus Carlsen, scheduled challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi will compete against Candidates tournament runner-up Ding Liren in the World Chess Championship match.
In the classical section of the match, each game will have a time limit of 120 minutes for the first 40 moves for each side, 60 minutes for the next 20 moves, and 15 minutes for the remaining movements, with a 30-second increment every move beginning with move 61.
