The WBC is set to enable teams to earn a good profit for participating in this year’s tournament. Given below is a breakdown of how much players and team officials can expect to earn after taking part in the competition.
World Baseball Classic 2023 prize money breakdown
As it stands, the total prize money pool for the 2023 World Baseball Classic is $14.4 million. Out that money total money, $6 million will go towards the 20 teams who qualified for the event. Which means each team will get around $300,000 each, just for taking part in the tournament.
Meanwhile, teams will receive more incentives for getting past every round. Each of the Group winners, will bag another $300,000, while the quarterfinalist will add another $400,000. The teams that go on to the semifinals will receive a further $500,000, while the two finalists will earn another $500,000 each.
Each team will split the money that they receive evenly between players and their respective team’s baseball federation.

WBC final winner total prize money earnings
Besides receiving the money for going through each stage of the tournament, the final winner of the WBC will receive a $1 million prize money.
This means that the winner has the potential to earn upto $3 million in prize money. When split evenly, the players will receive $1.5 million in total. Each player can earn up to $50,000 in a roster consisting of 30 players. Although this may not be an insane amount for top MLB stars, it is certainly a much appreciated payout for players outside the league.
