2023 World Athletics Championships latest results, medal winners, leaderboard, schedule, date, venue, & key athletes
Noah Lyles outclassed his competitors at the 2023 World Athletics Championships and managed to clinch the men’s 100m gold medal owing to his 9.83s finish in the final. Although the 26-year-old American athlete trailed behind early leader Christian Coleman, his strong run towards the end saw him overtake all other finalists and complete the comeback victory. Unfortunately, Coleman wasn’t able to maintain his lead and finished fifth behind silver medalist Letsile Tebogo and bronze medalist Zharnel Hughes.
Meanwhile, Great Britain athlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson won the gold medal in women’s heptathlon. Notably, 2022 edition bronze medalist Anna Hall and Olympic silver medalist Anouk Vetter were both within striking distance of her score before the start of the 800-meter sprint, which was the last event of heptathlon. Despite finishing in second-place for this event, Katarina held on to her lead and was crowned as the world champion yet again.
