The World Athletics organisation hosts the biennial World Athletics Championships (formerly IAAF, International Association of Athletics Federations). They serve as the world’s top senior international outdoor sports championships for track and field athletics, including marathon running and race walking, in addition to the Olympic Games.

India’s performance at the current World Athletics Championships has been dismal so far. However, Neeraj Chopra, who won the gold medal in the Olympics in Tokyo, has encouraged the Indian team by making it to the JAVELIN FINAL with his very first throw. Rohit Yadav, one of his colleagues, also advanced to the finals. Annu Rani competed in the Women’s Javelin Finals earlier on Thursday.
The other good news is that Eldhose Paul, a 25-year-old triple jumper from Kerala, made history at Oregon by becoming the first Indian triple jumper to get to the World Athletics Championships finals.

World Athletics Championships Results
-India received wonderful news in the Triple Jump. With a leap of 16.68 metres, Eldhose Paul became the first Indian to reach the World Championships triple jump final. He was sixth in Group A qualification and 12th overall to qualify for the final on Sunday (66:50 am).
-With a throw of 88.39 metres, Neeraj Chopra earned a spot in the World Championships Final.
-After Neeraj Chopra, Rohit Yadav became the second Indian to earn a spot in the 2022 World Athletics Championships men’s javelin throw finals on Friday. In the history of the World Championships, this is the first time two Indians have participated in a final.
-The third attempt at a triple jump: 16.49m Praveen (17th overall) 16.44 metres Aboobacker (19th overall) and they are both no longer in the running.
