The current medal table leaders, USA added two more medals to its tally on day 9 and took its medal tally to 28 medals overall in the competition. The other two leaders Ethiopia and Kenya also added two medals to their tally on day 9.

Starting with the women’s 4×100 Metres relay event, US clinched the gold medal with a tight win. Jamaica and Germany had to settle with silver and bronze.

In the men’s 4×100 Metres relay event, Canada left USA behind to clinch the gold medal. Meanwhile, Great Britain had to satisfy with bronze medal.

In the men’s triple jump final, Pedro Pichardo brought Portugal its first gold in the competition after winning the men’s triple jump event.

Moving onto the men’s javelin throw event, Anderson Peters of Grenada won the gold medal after defeating Tokyo Olympics Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra. It was a good day for India as Neeraj Chopra brought India its first medal by winning silver on day 9.

In women’s 5000 Metres event, Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia secured one more gold medal to Ethiopia’s tally.
