According to the official schedule, thirteen different diving events, including men’s and women’s solo and synchronized competitions, two mixed competitions, & mixed team competition, will be covered during the course of the 27 competition sessions. Meanwhile, three-time world champion Yang Hao will make his comeback alongside 10m synchro partner Lian Junjie. For China’s men’s team, they are the only medal winners from 2022 who are returning.
In contrast, as a show of strength, their women’s squad has 2022 world champions Li Yajie, Chen Yiwen, Chang Yani, Chen Yuxi, & Quan Hongchan. Additionally, the Olympic women’s 10m synchro champion Zhang Jiaqi is a member of China’s mixed 10m synchro team this year. Last year’s mixed 3m synchro champions Zhu Zifeng and Lin Shan are also back to defend their title.
Other events will be held in temporary pools or the open water, with the Fukuoka Prefectural Pool being the only permanent pool facility used for the 2023 World Championships. The indoor diving pool, which measures 22x20x5 meters, will host competitions. It has been in operation since April 1989 and is the only diving pool in Fukuoka. It is situated in Higashi Hirao Park close to the airport.
