The Women’s T20 Asia Cup is set to begin on October 1. On Tuesday, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the full schedule of the upcoming female T20 Asia Cup.
The Women in Blue have won it seven times in their history while Bangladesh is currently the defending champions and Mithali Raj, the former India captain, with 1127 runs is the leading run-scorer in the history of the tournament. Shashikala Siriwardene with 33 scalps is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament.

This will be the fourth edition of the tournament that will be held in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is the defending champ and will face Thailand on the first day of the tournament. The second match of the first day will take place between India and Sri Lanka. In total, seven teams will compete in the tournament.

Venue: The fourth edition of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in Sylhet International Cricket Stadium and Sylhet Outer Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh.
Format
The fourth edition of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2022 will be played in a round-robin format. Each team in the competition will play six matches and the top four teams will directly qualify for the semifinals. The league stage of the tournament will run until October 11 while the semi-finals will be held on October 13 and the final of the tournament will be held on October 15th.

Talking about the last edition, Bangladesh won the prestigious continental title for the first time after defeating India in a final-ball thriller. In 2020, the tournament was supposed to be held in Bangladesh, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it had to be cancelled.
