The auction featured intense bidding wars and strategic signings of 19 players by all the five franchises.
Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 all team squad players list, price, salary details, schedule and starting date
The Women’s Premier League is a women’s Twenty20 cricket franchise league, which the BCCI owns and operates. This season features the second edition of the competition with the Mumbai Indians winning the inaugural title.
WPL 2025 is likely to start in the last week of February 2025 and the schedule is also expected to be announced early next year.
WPL 2025 auction
The highly anticipated WPL 2025 auction recently took place on December 16, 2024. The auction mostly featured uncapped Indian players as teams looked to sign long-term investments. Gujarat Giants emerged as the most aggressive bidders throughout the auction, as they broke records, signing Simran Shaikh for ₹1.90 crore and Deandra Dottin for ₹1.70 crore.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru also made significant signings, with MI signing G Kamalini for ₹1.60 crore and RCB signing Prema Rawat for ₹1.20 crore. Meanwhile, other teams like Delhi Capitals focused on budget signings like N Charani (₹55 lakh) and Sarah Bryce (₹10 lakh). UP Warriorz also signed Alana King for ₹30 lakh.
Ira Jadhav and Anshu Nagar emerged as the youngest players in the auction, at 14 years old. Meanwhile, Laura Harris and Heather Knight were the oldest players at 34 years.
