Defending champions India beat Singapore 9-1 to win Pool A and advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s Asia Cup hockey 2022 competition on Monday
Gurjit Kaur scored a hat-trick, while Monika and Jyoti each scored a brace. The Indians suffered a surprising 0-2 loss to pool leaders Japan after thrashing Malaysia 9-0 in their opener. The Indians, on the other hand, put their last match setback behind them and dominated Singapore on Monday with a well-coordinated performance.

Monika (6th, 17th) and Jyoti (43rd, 58th) each scored two field goals, while Gurjit (8th, 37th, 48th) converted two penalty corners. Vandana Katariya (8th) and Mariana Kujur (8th) also scored for India (10th).
On Wednesday, India will face Korea, the Pool B leaders, in the first semifinal, while Japan, which defeated Malaysia 8-0 in another Pool B encounter, will face China in the other last four match.
The competition final will take place on Thursday. The top four teams will qualify for the FIH World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Spain and the Netherlands this year.
