The Women’s Asia cup 2022 is to begin on the 1st of October, know the all time cricket winners list
It will be the 8th edition of the women’s tournament. In 2004 the inaugural tournament was played in Sri Lanka which was won by India. Women’s Asia cup History
The tournament was played between India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan for the first three editions. It became a Multination tournament in 2008 when Bangladesh made thier first appearance in the tournament. Since then 11 nations have taken part in the tournament till now. In 2012 the tournament began to be played in the T20 format which is faster and more exciting for the fans. More teams started to participate in the tournament. In 2012 most 8 teams played the Women’s Asia cup.
Countries who have played the Women’s Asia Cup till now
In the first season in 2004 only India and Sri Lanka played the Asia cup. Then in 2006 Pakistan started playing the tournament and it became a Tri-Nation competition. In 2008 introduction of Bangladesh made the competition even more competitive. In 2012 4 new countries Hong Kong, China, Thailand, and Nepal participated in the tournament. The 2018 Asia cup was Hosted by Malaysia and it was also thier first ever major tournament as a team. Now in the upcoming edition of 2022 UAE will also take part in the tournament for the first time.

2004 (ODI Format)
The first-ever Women’s Asia cup was played between only 2 teams India and Hosts Sri Lanka. The 5-match ODI Tournament was won by India 5-0.
2005-06 (ODI Format)
The Tournament was played in Pakistan and India won the final against Sri Lanka by 97 runs.
2006 (ODI Format)
India hosted the competition for the first time and won the final against Sri Lanka by 8 wickets.
2008 (ODI Format)
Sri Lanka hosted the tournament in Kurungela but India defeated them again in the finals by 177 runs.
2012 (T20I Format)
China hosted the tournament which was won by India by defeating Pakistan in the finals by 18 runs.
2016 (T20I Format)
The five-time winners India made it 6 in Thailand by defeating Pakistan in the Finals by 17 runs.
2018 (T20I Format)
Malaysia Hosted the 2018 Asia Cup and the tournament got its new winner in Bangladesh. Bangladesh defeated India in the finals with 3 wickets in hand.

The former India captain Mithali Raj has scored the most runs in the tournament (588).
Most Wickets in the Women’s Asia cup
Indian left-arm orthodox Neetu David picked up most wickets in the tournament (26).
