The excitement is building as the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Gangwon 2024 draws near, bringing together some of the world’s most talented young winter athletes, know more about the tickets booking, price and opening ceremony of the Olympics

The Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 is set to start from January 19 to February 1, 2024, the Republic of Korea will host Asia’s first Winter YOG, featuring approximately 1,900 athletes from 81 National Olympic Committees.

Starting from 11 November, fans worldwide can secure their tickets for this extraordinary sporting event. The official Gangwon 2024 ticketing website, tickets.gangwon2024.org, is the go-to platform for securing your spot at various winter sports events. 

Notably, tickets for all events are free, except for the dazzling Opening Ceremony in Gangneung.

For those eager to witness the grand spectacle live at Gangneung, tickets are available for purchase at prices ranging from KRW 30,000 to KRW 100,000 (approximately USD 22 to USD 74). 

The PyeongChang Dome, another venue for the Opening Ceremony, offers free admission, though attendees must secure tickets online or at the box office on the day of the event.

The Opening Ceremony promises a captivating experience. The line-up, including K-pop rising stars, will be revealed closer to the ceremony. This grand event will mark the culmination of the Gangwon 2024 Torch Tour, concluding with the lighting of the Youth Olympic cauldron.

Benefiting from the legacy of the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, the YOG Gangwon 2024 will unfold across four locations: Gangneung, PyeongChang, Jeongseon, and Hoengseong.

From ice hockey, skating, and curling initiations to biathlon, skiing, and ski jumping, spectators can engage in a wide range of sports activities. 

Additionally, attendees can enjoy photo sessions, face painting, hands-on crafts, and immersive VR experiences, making it an event for all ages.

The Torch Relay, spanning 23 cities over three months, will culminate in the Games’ opening. In a touching ceremony, Greek cross-country skier and biathlete Maria Belli passed the flame to Korean figure skater Kim Hyun-gyeom.

The journey to the YOG Gangwon 2024 began with the Olympic Torch Lighting Ceremony in Athens. The flame, lit in the historic Panathenaic Stadium, was handed over to Gangwon 2024 Organising Committee co-president Jin Jong-oh and the Gangwon 2024 mascot Moongcho, marked the flame’s homecoming.
