The Winter Youth Olympic Games of Gangwon 2024 will begin on January 19, 2024, and will include six FIS disciplines.

PyeongChang Dome and Gangneung Oval are scheduled to host the Opening Ceremony simultaneously. There will be top-notch entertainment available from K-pop artists and other cultural performances.
Athletes will also march into the stadium during the ceremony, which will mark the end of the Gangwon 2024 Torch Tour and feature the lighting of the Youth Olympic cauldron.

Disciples and Events at Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024
There will be equal events of the same or a similar format with teams of athletes from the same National Olympic Committees (NOCs) instead of mixed NOC events for the first time ever at a Winter YOG. A new mixed-gender relay will take the place of the mixed NOC relay in cross-country skiing, and two new 1,500 short-track speed skating events will be held in Gangwon.
The Gangwon 2024 YOG will have 15 disciplines spread across seven sports, ensuring gender equality. They are:
- Biathlon
- Bobsleigh (including skeleton)
- Curling
- Ice hockey
- Luge
- Skating (including figure skating short track and speed skating)
- Skiing (including alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, Nordic combined, ski jumping, and snowboard)

There will be 200 competitors in six biathlon events at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre from January 20 to 24, with 100 athletes competing in each gender.
