It’s safe to say that Wimbledon’s food and beverage menu has been made public online, and the prices are simply obscene. The tournament, which has historically been one of tennis’ largest competitions, started yesterday (Monday, July 3)  and will continue for the next two weeks. Thousands will attend the event, as they do each year to witness some of the greatest athletes in the sport competing against each other. However, given the recently published menu, the amounts Wimbledon will charge are fairly absurd.

What are the costs for food and beverages at Wimbledon?

Fans who want to eat or drink while at Wimbledon won’t be able to do so at a reasonable price. They will have to pay an insane £9.70 for either a 330ml bottle of Stella or a 250ml can of Pimms if you’re interested in either beverage. A 330ml can of Coke Zero costs £2.25, which is a hefty price for a can of soft drink but appears to be reasonably priced in relation to the booze supplied at the event.

A bag of Haribo Tangfastics, which typically costs approximately £1 at stores, is being sold at Wimbledon for an astounding £4.20, while a Cornish Pasty would set you back £6.30. Wimbledon’s signature Strawberries & Cream concoction is a must-have for visitors, but it will set them back £2.50. If those costs are still too exorbitant, there are also champagne bottles on the menu, with complete bottles of Lanson going for a jaw-dropping £79.50.

Wimbledon is going to be a thrilling match on the court as Novak Djokovic and Elena Rybakina attempt to defend their titles. With the weather expected to improve and temperatures expected to climb later this week, spectators may be tempted by ice cream, which is also included on the Wimbledon menu for £4.20.

The outrageous prices for food and drink at Wimbledon feel a little out of touch with the current economy, but many people will undoubtedly be forced to pay for a small snack or beverage regardless because they have no other real options. Although it may seem silly to you, this is the reality.
