On Wednesday, June 12, 2023, the 25th Asian Athletics Championships will begin in Bangkok, Thailand. The five-day competition will pit the best athletes from the area against one another in a continental competition.
Over 50 Indian athletes, including superstars Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Jyothi Yarraji, and Murali Sreeshankar, will compete in the Championship.
Athletes from India and other Asian nations will have the ideal opportunity to train well for the Asian Games 2023, which are slated to take place in Hangzhou, China, between September 23 and October 8.
The Asian Athletic Association Committee
The Asian Athletics Association was founded 50 years ago. The local government and organising committee unveiled the mascot for the multisport continental championship in accordance with conventions for similar events.
On Tuesday, the committee selected the venerated Lord Hanuman as the new mascot of the Asian Athletics Championship.

According to Asian Athletics, “As Lord Hanuman demonstrates extraordinary abilities in Rama’s service throughout the adventure, including speed, strength, courage, and wisdom, the friendship between the two develops and deepens, ultimately proving that Hanuman’s most incredible ability is, in fact, his incredibly staunch loyalty and devotion. Lord Hanuman is an idol of strength, knowledge, and wisdom.”
The Legendary Ramayana is also well known in many Southeast Asian nations, including Thailand, just like in India. The Ramayana also has a Thai adaptation, known as Ramakein.
Players Who Are Not Participating In Asian Athletics Championships
The regional competition will feature more than 50 Indian competitors. Men’s shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor, hurdler Jyothi Yarraji, and long jumper Murali Sreeshankar are among the Indians who qualified. India had initially announced a 54-member contingent, but the number was slightly lowered due to a few injuries.
Notably, the Indian delegation for the Championship would be missing Neeraj Chopra and Avinash Sable. For the World Athletics Championships in August, both athletes are getting ready.
