Hockey legend and Hall of Famer Bobby Hull reportedly passed away on the morning of January 30 at the age of 84, know about his nickname golden jet
A fan favourite, Hull teamed up with Stan Mikita to lead the Blackhawks to the Stanley Cup in 1961, ending the franchise’s 23-year championship drought. Hull, a 12-time All-Star and two-time Hart Trophy winner, first gained notoriety in the ’60s thanks to the curved blade on his wooden stick. According to ESPN, the player’s fastest slap shot registered at an astounding 118 miles per hour.
Why was Bobby Hull called the Golden Jet, nickname meaning and origin
The hockey star, whose blonde hair, end-to-end rushes, and skating speed earned him the nickname “Golden Jet,” was famous for his playing style.
The official cause of Hull’s death has not been disclosed. The legendary player spent 15 years with the Chicago Cubs and amassed a 604 career win-loss record. He led the squad in assists and tied for the lead in goals.

His brother Dennis, a Black Hawks player as well, amassed 298 points during his time there. Dennis and Hull played together for eight of their 15 seasons together. Hull was one of the best players of all time. As evidenced by his three scoring titles in the National Hockey League.
Bobby Hull had a controversial life
The great hockey player played for 23 years in the World Hockey Association (WHA) and National Hockey League (NHL). He was the first NHL player to score more than 50 goals (NHL). After leaving the Black Hawks and the NHL, he signed the first-ever $1 million deal for the World Hockey Association’s Winnipeg Jets in 1972. Hull has played in the WHA for seven seasons and has been a part of two Avco Cup championship teams (1976, 1978).
Bobby Hull abused his wife
Hull’s off-field life was just as contentious, with two of his three wives alleging that he abused them. Hull’s second wife Joanne McKay said that he struck her with a shoe while he had her suspended over a balcony in Hawaii in 1966. McKay, a figure skater, was threatened with a gun in 1978. As a result of an event in 1984, his third wife Deborah has lodged multiple accusations against him. The charges were eventually dropped, though.
After admitting to taking a swing at an arresting officer, the player was fined $150. Hull was given a six-month period of judicial monitoring. His statement to The Moscow Times that “Hitler had some good ideas” but “just went a bit too far” was met with criticism once ESPN reported that he made it.
In February of 2022, the Blackhawks announced the end of Hull’s ambassadorship with the team. Citing a need to rethink the position of team ambassador.
