Zhizhen trained in France and Australia when he got older. He began training in Croatia in 2021 and has been guided by former player Ivan Ljubicic since then. In 2016, Ljubicic even set up a practise session with Roger Federer, Zhizhen’s idol, in Monte Carlo.
Zhizhen, who is only 26 years old, began his professional career in 2012 when he was just 15 years old. The Chinese athletes have already played on the tour for ten years. Prior to 2014, when he was regarded as a regular at all ITF events, he did not participate in many matches. Zhizhen competed in an ITF event in Cyprus and made it to his first quarterfinal. It was sufficient to get ready for the following phase in 2015.
