Zakir Naik attended Kishinchand Chellaram College and studied medicine at Topiwala National Medical College and BYL Nair Charitable Hospital. Later on, he enrolled at the University of Mumbai, India.

In late 1991, Zakir Naik began working in the field of dawah and established Islamic International School which is based in Mumbai, and the United Islamic Aid, which offers scholarships to differently-abled and poor, destitute Muslim youth.
