The incident occurred last month during a wrestling tournament held at the LB Stadium. A commotion erupted vigorously after the match in the wrestling ring.
Two rival wrestling groups, one led by Zafar Pahelwan and the other by Salem Pehlwan came face to face in a confrontation. Based on Salem’s complaint, the police registered a case against Zafar, citing serious injuries and criminal threats. The case was filed under Sections 325, 324, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
With the assistance of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) deployed by the Commissioner, the Saifabad police apprehended Zafar Pehlwan while he was participating in a final ceremony in Azampura.
The police issued a notice to Zafar Pahelwan under Section 41A of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) regarding the matter. The police placed Zafar Pehlwan under a good behavior bond and warned him against engaging in any unlawful activities
Despite his controversial past, Zafar remains affiliated with the AIMIM and has also served as a councilor for the party.
Zafar is a well-known name in the world of Indian wrestling and politics. Known for his wrestling prowess, Zafar’s journey has been marked by both achievements and controversies that have left an indelible mark on his legacy.
Hamza bin Omer alias Zafar Pahelwan practices polygamy and his extended family comprises about 40 persons, including his nine wives. The 71-year-old don is blessed with 27 children, the youngest being a 14-year-old girl.
