S Niranjan Reddy, Allu Arjun’s attorney, told the media after his release from Chanchalguda Jail on Saturday morning that he was unlawfully detained even though the jail authorities had a copy of the High Court’s decision. The attorney claimed that the accused should be released immediately, as the High Court had made explicit in its ruling.

Allu Arjun is being represented in court by renowned attorney and YCP Rajya Sabha MP Niranjan Reddy. He was also YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s attorney in the Supreme Court for his case involving disproportionate assets. Reddy allegedly pointed out during the hearings that a petition for dismissal had already been submitted in the case, and he is now requesting that it be accelerated in view of the current police action.
Sirgapoor Niranjan Reddy (born 22 July 1970) is an Indian lawyer, practicing in the Supreme Court of India and National Company Law Appellate Tribunal. He is a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha representing the State of Andhra Pradesh since 2022 and is also known for having produced the Telugu films, Kshanam (2016), Ghazi (2017), Wild Dog (2021), and Acharya (2022).
Niranjan Reddy was born on 22 July 1970 in Nirmal, Adilabad district, Telangana and is from an agricultural family. His father, Vidya Sagar Reddy, was a well- known lawyer in the said region.
Niranjan did his early schooling from a rural convent school in Kisan Nagar of Nizamabad district and then shifted to Hyderabad for his secondary and higher education. He studied and completed his schooling from Siva Sivani Public School in 1987 and pursued a 5 year Integrated Law Course from Symbiosis Law School in Pune and graduated in 1992.
After completing his LLB in 1992, he joined the legal practice of the erstwhile senior advocates O. Manohar Reddy and K. Pratap Reddy, in the Andhra Pradesh High Court and also worked briefly in the Supreme Court of India, in 1994-95, with Justice Muralidhar with him designated a senior lawyer in 2016.
His wife Vasanthi Reddy is a lawyer as well while Niranjan Reddy’s son is a law clerk to Justice Ramasubramanian.
Given that Niranjan Reddy is regarded as one of the leading legal experts in the Telugu states, his role in this Allu Arjun case has garnered a lot of attention.
