The current AAP MLA from the Malviya Nagar Assembly Constituency, Somnath Bharti, was beaten by BJP leader Satish Upadhyay. Meanwhie, Meghnad S, a well-known YouTuber running as an independent candidate, received 192 votes.
Known as “India’s first YouTuber Neta,” Meghnad S is a well-known social media personality and journalist who ran as an independent candidate from the Malviya Nagar seat in the 2025 Delhi elections. He has over 81,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, “meghnerd,” and about 2 lakh followers on X (previously Twitter).
He is the son of Atul Saharasrabhojanee while his wife whose name isn’t known is a consultant by profession. Meghnad himself is a content creator and author who did his Bachelor of Commerce with Computer Application from CAPS College of Commerce, Nagpur University, 2011. The 35 year old has a net worth of Rs.54 lakhs.
With his small following, the 35-year-old ran a campaign, declaring that he wanted to replace Delhi’s current politicians with a “normie (normal) neta.” He also released a campaign song called “Dilli ka Normie Neta,” which featured the slogan “Pen Chuno, Kaam Dekho (Choose pen [his poll symbol] and see the work)”.
“I take pride in being an independent candidate. My primary goal is to prove a point: hyper-local leaders can best address local issues. My only boss is YOU, the people of Malviya Nagar,” Meghnad S had told The Times of India in a recent interview.
When exit polls began to flood news outlets on the day of the Delhi election results, Meghnad S posted a video titled “How to Lose an election in 10 days” on his YouTube channel.

The electoral “experiment” that Meghnad had named “Project Anda” meant that he had no chance of winning or even receiving any votes, as he had repeatedly acknowledged on his YouTube channel.
In the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections, the BJP won 48 of 70 seats, leaving the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in a distant second place with only 22 seats. The Congress came up empty-handed.
Three-time AAP MLA Somnath Bharti lost the Malviya Nagar seat to BJP candidate Satish Upadhyay by a margin of 2,131 votes. Bharti received 37,433 votes, while Upadhyay received 39,564 votes. Meghnad S, the YouTuber-turned-‘normie neta’, garnered 192 votes in total.
