Wesley Wang made history by being the youngest director to be signed by a major studio with the premiere of his award winning short film “nothing, except everything,” which is set to be adapted into a feature film.

Wang composed his first short story during his senior year of high school. In September 2024, he uploaded a video titled “Nothing, except everything” to his YouTube channel which became well-known instantly and was chosen for the Indianapolis Indy Shorts Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize.

A report in Deadline stats that there were four studios who desired working with the YouTuber but TriStar recently wrapped up the deal. The film version of Wang’s short will be written and directed by him, with production handled by Protozoa Pictures under the direction of Darren Aronofsky.

He co-founded a nonprofit before middle school, became a chess FIDE Master in 2018, and opened for Nicky Youre at last year’s Crimson Jam and is an 11-time national chess champion and has also produced additional short films, including Faces, Eve, and Mute. The YouTuber got interested in the feild at a very young age who started making films when he was just 11.
