According to reports, Young Scooter, a rapper from Atlanta, was shot on Friday in Atlanta, Georgia.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the incident occurred a few blocks from State Farm Arena, the site of the NCAA tournament, and one person was shot there. According to reports, Young Scooter, whose real name is Kenneth Edward Bailey, was the victim of the incident. The police have not yet formally verified the reports, though.

Atlanta rapper Young Scooter died on his 39th birthday Friday in a freak accident that occurred while fleeing a confrontation with police. He died at Grady Marcus Trauma Center in Atlanta after sustaining an injury to his leg while jumping a fence.

Cops responded to a home in the southeast part of the city after receiving reports about shots fired and a female being dragged back inside as she attempted to flee.

Bailey was born in South Carolina and move to Atlanta with his family when he was 9,.

39-year-old Young Scooter was born in Walterboro, South Carolina on March 28, 1986. He was 6ft 3in tall. His family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia’s Kirkwood Community when he was nine years old. After facing drug trafficking charges in 2008, he made the decision to pursue a career in music. Scooter and Future, another Atlanta rapper, were childhood friends. Although he was single and unmarried at the time of his death, he had four children. The names of their baby mamas aren’t known though. Scooter had a net worth of $1-5 million.

He had his first regional hit, “Colombia,” in 2012, the same year he signed to fellow ATL rapper Future’s Freebanz record label and two years later, he teamed up with Future, Juicy J and Young Thug on ““DI$Function” and was featured on the latter’s “Guwop” in 2016 with Quavo & Offset of Migos.

Despite the lack of interest in his debut mixtape Plug Talkin, Young Scooter established himself with his second release, Finessin and Flexin’, and was already working with Future. In 2012, Scooter released two additional mixtapes, Married to the Streets and Voice of the Streetz, which included guest verses by Gucci Mane and Alley Boy and productions by Zaytoven, DJ Spinz, Nard & B, and Da Honorable C.N.O.T.E.

When Scooter released his mixtape Street Lottery in January 2013, it was his big break. It was recognized on XXL’s “Best mixtapes of January” list and was selected “Rap release of the week” by SPIN.

Decatur Dan’s “Colombia” music video debuted on MTV on January 31. In the South, particularly in Scooter’s birthplace of Atlanta, the song became popular. Brandon Soderberg of SPIN categorized it as a hybrid of “Hustlin'” by Rick Ross and “Tony Montana” by Future.

An official remix featuring rappers Rick Ross, Birdman, and Gucci Mane was released at the end of the month. The song was also performed by Lil Wayne for his Dedication 5 mixtape.
