41 year old Yogesh, who had clinched nine prestigious titles in the realm of bodybuilding, including the coveted ‘Mr. Tamil Nadu’ title in 2022, left a lasting mark in the world of fitness.
His dedication and commitment to the sport were palpable, and his journey towards becoming a ‘Mr. Tamil Nadu’ champion was nothing short of inspirational.
Yogesh hailed from Mahatma Gandhi Street in Gnanmurthy Nagar, Ambattur Menampedu Extension. He had a loving family, having tied the knot with Vaishnavi in 2021, and was the proud father of a two-year-old daughter.
Following his marriage, he took a brief hiatus from intensive bodybuilding, channeling his passion into a career as a gym trainer.
For several years, Yogesh had been an integral part of a gym near the Korattur bus station. His life was intertwined with fitness, and his commitment was unquestionable.
Hours before his demise, Yogesh, true to his role as a dedicated trainer, assisted his clients in their training sessions. In a testament to his unwavering spirit, he then engaged in an intense workout himself. He decided to push his limits by lifting heavy weights after a prolonged break from his rigorous routine.
He informed his colleagues that he needed a break to rejuvenate in the steam room. Unfortunately, this break would prove to be his last. When more than half an hour passed, and Yogesh did not re-emerge from the restroom, his coworkers grew increasingly concerned.
The bathroom door was locked, and their repeated knocks went unanswered. Fearing the worst, they took a drastic step, breaking the lock to gain access.
The preliminary reports suggest that dehydration in the steam room after an intense workout played a role in Yogesh’s tragic cardiac arrest.
Severe dehydration can lead to an electrolyte imbalance that, in turn, affects the heart’s electrical impulses. This disruption can result in arrhythmia, causing the heart to beat irregularly and, ultimately, stop functioning.
