In reply to a journalist’s question about rumors that Russia might interfere in the US congressional elections on the 8th of November, Prigozhin responded, “I will answer you very subtly, and delicately and also apologize.”
He stated: “Carefully, for sure, surgically and in our own way, as we know how. During our operations, we will remove both the kidneys and the liver at just once.”
Who is Yevgeny Prigozhin
Prigozhin is a very close confidant of Russian President Putin. Yevgeny gained his nickname because his restaurants and catering businesses are popularly known to have hosted dinners that were attended by Putin and his foreign grandee.
He was born in Saint Petersburg on June 1st, 1961 with his net worth at $1 billion. Presently he is 61 years of age. In 1981 he went to prison for around 9 years in the case of robbery, fraud, and involving teenagers in the crime.
Prigozhin is married to a pharmacist who is known as Lyubov Valentinovna Prigozhina and she owns a variety of boutique stores.
He controls several numbers of companies including Wagner Group which is known to be a Russian state-backed mercenary group accused of war crimes in countries of Africa, Syria, and Ukraine.
As per the reports of the FBI website, “Yevgeniy Viktorovich Prigozhin is wanted by the FBI for his involvement in a scheme to defraud the United States by damaging, barrier, and defeating the lawful tasks of the Federal Election Commission, United States Department of the Justice.”
He was basically the funder of the St. Petersburg-based Internet Research Agency (IRA) operating and based in Washington, D.C. from early in 2014 to February 16th of 2018. In this agency, he oversaw its political and electoral interference.
The Prigozhin-led agency is stated to have “purchased an American computer server space, this creation of hundreds of fictitious online personas” and used “stolen identities of persons from the United States.” The purpose was to interfere with the Presidential Election in 2016.
