During Tuesday’s IPL 2025 match between the Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders, a fan named Yeasin broke through security at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati to meet Riyan Parag.

The young fan rushed onto the field to touch the feet of the substitute captain, Riyan Parag.

KKR was chasing 152 runs when the event happened in the second innings. Before security guards stepped in and escorted Parag off the field, the fan made it to him, touched his feet, and gave him a hug.

A fan ran barefoot towards the stand-in skipper to touch and embrace him as Riyan Parag was ready to deliver his fourth over.

While the name of the fan still isn’t known, according to an Instagram reel, the fan in question operates an account on the social media platform which goes by _yeasin______099 and he also has a Facebook account by the name of Denny Rock. The fan who is a Muslim by religion is believed to hail from Guwahati, Assam.

The match was postponed as a result of this invasion, but the security personnel arrived right away and took the fan off the field. Although Riyan gained a lot of encouragement following that event, RR was unable to deliver a standout performance.

Riyan Parag made his IPL debut as captain of his native Assam in this game. Due to the finger injury sustained by usual captain Sanju Samson, he is guiding RR for the first three games. Samson only appeared as a hitter in this game and RR’s season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad. His position as an Impact Player resulted from the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence clearing him to bat but advising against wicketkeeping.

Being the first IPL cricket player from Assam, the incident demonstrated how well-liked Parag is in the state. The Rajasthan Royals’ deliberate choice to play two games in Guwahati suggests that they see him as Samson’s possible successor.

Parag had a mixed performance during the game. Batting at number three, he quickly struck 25 runs off 15 balls, but Varun Chakaravarthy caught him at a critical juncture. In four overs, he bowled 25 runs without taking any wickets.

The Rajasthan Royals have yet to win in the 2025 Indian Premier League. On March 30, they will play the Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati.

This was the second pitch invasion incident of the season. The first happened at Eden Gardens when a fan went into the field to greet Virat Kohli during the KKR-Royal Challengers Bengaluru opener. After being detained, the person was prohibited from entering the stadium for the rest of the season.
