You can always see the mysterious figure watching over and guarding Lionel Messi, here is all you need to know about who is the Argentine’s bodyguard in Inter Miami with him named Yassine Chueko

Following Lionel Messi’s transfer to Inter Miami in the United States, it appears that more people than ever are paying attention to his talent, as the former Barcelona player is dominating the Major League Soccer.

Some of his admirers who weren’t aware of just how brilliant he is now see it for themselves. The Argentine’s play has many unique aspects that have been recognised by many, but off the pitch, Messi is drawing attention for his mysterious new bodyguard.

Videos of the man walking up and down the touchline during a game while tracking Messi’s moves have gone viral on social media. One such video shows him doing so while Messi is playing for the former Paris Saint-Germain player.

Simply watch an Inter Miami game to observe the figure following Messi around like a shadow. He’s always keeping an eye on the superstar, whether it’s during games or just around the stadium, but nobody knows who he is. Although we do not yet know the man’s name, we are here to give you as much information as we can about him.

David Beckham hired him especially for Messi

When Messi joined the team, David Beckham hired the mysterious bodyguard, whose main duty it was to protect the former PSG player while he played.

He is constantly near Messi and appears to take his job very seriously. He follows the Argentine’s movements as he makes his way from the team coach to the locker rooms or strolls along the touchline. It makes sense, too, and given how frequently pitch invaders seem to occur as the seasons go by, it’s odd that more clubs haven’t instituted a similar system in recent years.

A player can be attacked very fast if someone enters the pitch, as evidenced by the attack on Jack Grealish by a Birmingham fan while he was playing for Aston Villa. Beckham is obviously unwilling to take that chance for Messi while he is playing in Miami.

When a figure as enigmatic as Messi’s bodyguard appears and little is known about him, it is only natural for speculations to swiftly circulate and tales about his past to go wild.

According to a current rumour, the man may have been on the front lines, representing his country in both Iraq and Afghanistan, as a former American special forces officer.

Lionel Messi’s bodyguard name has been identified though and he is Yassine Chueko as he went viral on social media this week.

Chueko is a former US soldier who served in Iraq and Afghanistan as a Navy SEAL, according to La Nacion and he currently has 114,000 followers on Instagram, where he mostly posts videos about his boxing and martial arts training routines and has competed in MMA fights too.

Part of Chueko’s job is to effectively man-mark Messi during games, so that he is able to intercept any pitch invaders who attempt to get close to the Miami captain and he also guards Messi before and after matches, as well as when he is out and about with his family in public – for example, when they go shopping.

Given Messi’s celebrity, it stands to reason that the person in charge of ensuring his protection at all costs would have experience in battle. Nobody can accuse Inter Miami of not caring about the security of its star.

In one such video, Messi can be seen waiting outside the club’s team coach’s door while other Inter Miami players walk by. The man immediately follows the superstar inside the arena by lining up behind him.
