According to authorities, a Florida lady named Yamaris Marrero who stuck a wad of bubble gum on the door handle of a Tesla, causing more than $2,600 in damage, is facing a criminal charge.

After being seen at the food court at Aventura Mall, 45-year-old Yamaris Marrero of Hallandale Beach was taken into custody, according to Aventura Police. The car’s built-in cameras captured the vandalism that took place in the JCPenney parking garage just before 12:45 p.m. on a Saturday, days prior.
Age 45 Yamaris Marrero was initially charged with felony criminal mischief for the sticky antics, which were captured on the car’s built-in cameras on March 22 in the JC Penney parking lot at Aventura Mall in Miami-Dade County. Cops cuffed Marrero, 45, of Hallandale Beach, after a mall security guard spotted her in the food court on Thursday and she was reportedly stuck in police custody on $2,500 bond as of Friday.
The owner of the Tesla told Local 10 News that he thought he was singled out, perhaps because of political prejudice stemming from Elon Musk’s apparent associations with Donald Trump.
For the sticky antics, which were seen on the car’s built-in cameras on March 22 at the JC Penney parking lot at Aventura Mall in Miami-Dade County, Yamaris Marrero was first charged with felony criminal mischief, according to media.

According to reports, the gum stuck by Yamaris Marrero jammed the door handle mechanism, resulting in a $2,623.66 repair expense. Originally charged with criminal mischief with a hate crime enhancement, Marrero’s case was ultimately dropped in court to third-degree felony.
According to the report, Yamaris Marrero was arrested by police after a security guard saw her at the mall’s food court on Thursday afternoon.
It claims that an acknowledgment she made was removed from the document that was made public.
The Aventura police arrest report originally stated that the criminal mischief allegation had a hate crime enhancement.

However, the charge’s “with prejudice” clause was swiftly modified in bail court on Friday, lowering the felony’s classification from second-degree to third-degree.
