Meghann Cuniff, a reporter for Law & Crime, said that after the verdict was read, Lanez’s father and stepmother got into a disturbing fight in the courtroom.
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, has five siblings with the same mother and father. Sonstar Peterson was married to Luella Peterson, who was the singer’s real mother. Luella was born on the island of Curacao in the Dutch Caribbean. She later moved to Canada, where she met Sonstar, before moving to the US. Luella died when Lanez was still a child. Anemia was said to be the cause of death.

Lanez’s relationship with his stepmother was also tense, so he moved around a lot and ended up being homeless.

Lanez’s stepmother also yelled at the camera, “Beyoncé and Jay-Z, you have children. So, you are sending other people to jail, right? You have kids. God sees everything.” During the court hearings, Lanez’s daughter and other family members were there.
