In September, 33-year-old striker Kevin Behrens, who plays forward for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, the highest league in Germany, refused to autograph the jersey and made a homophobic comment.

Kevin Behrens who had previously played for Union Berlin and Werder Bremen, was reportedly in a signing session in September with a few other players when the event happened.

33-year-old Kevin Behrens who is striker was born on 3 February 1991 in Bremen, Germany with his height at 1.84m. His sister Kim van de Velde plays volleyball and is the wife of Steven van de Velde, a Dutchman who was found guilty of r*pe.

Kevin Behrens career

Playing for Werder Bremen III, SV Wilhelmshaven, Hannover 96 II, Alemannia Aachen, Rot-Weiss Essen, FC Saarbrücken, and SV Sandhausen, Kevin Behrens spent the majority of his career in the Regionalliga. He won the Saarland Cup in 2016–17 and the Regionalliga Südwest in 2017–18 with Saarbrücken.

During the summer transfer window of 2021, Behrens moved to Union Berlin, a Bundesliga club located in East Berlin. He scored his first goal in a European competition on September 16, 2021, during a 3-1 loss to Slavia Prague in the Conference League for 2021–2022.

Behrens scored his first Bundesliga hat-trick, all headers, against 1. on August 20, 2023, at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei on the opening matchday of the 2023–24 Bundesliga season.

In 2024, Behrens relocated to VfL Wolfsburg on January 31. Wolfsburg punished Kevin Behrens for his homophobic remarks during an autograph session in October, when he declined to sign a shirt with a rainbow motif. Later on, he expressed regret, and the club reiterated its dedication to tolerance and diversity.

Behrens was called up for the first time to the German senior national team in October 2023 for two friendlies against Mexico and the United States.

On October 18, he made his debut against the former, replacing Jamal Musiala in the 87th minute of a 2–2 tie that resulted.
