Several comments on a now-deleted Facebook post suggested that the track had been extremely crowded at the time of the tragedy, and the Polish rider Wojtek Rozmus was competing in a motocross heat that comprised competitors of all skill levels with him passing away after being involved in a crash.
The owner of Mildenhall MX in Suffolk confirmed the death had taken place during an event on Sunday, which included riders ranging from novices to experts, making it the second death at the location in six months.
Wojtek Rozmus, 43 of Greater London, had been riding at the course at West Row, near Mildenhall in Suffolk and Mildenhall MX said there had been a “fatality at the track” in a now-deleted social media post and its owner Cliff Bastwick said the track’s management was “obviously very sad about it” with Wojtek dying on the spot.
The motocross track has had two deadly incidents in the last six months, including the death of the 43-year-old Wojtek Rozmus.
West Suffolk Council’s health and safety department said: “We can confirm that we are investigating an incident at Mildenhall Motocross that has sadly resulted in the death of a motocross rider at the weekend, and our thoughts are with their friends and family.”
An online fundraiser raising monies for his family to cover all the inevitable costs they will now incur had seen over £20,000 donated in less than 24 hours. Rozmus had two young daughters and had been with his wife for more than 20 years but the names of his family members aren’t known.

The death of Mr Rozmus is the second fatal incident in six months at the motocross circuit, which is next to the West Row speedway and motorsports stadium.
Although Mildenhall MX acknowledged that it had made the decision to disclose the death confirmation “before any more gossip continues,” it has not provided any additional information regarding the circumstances of Wojtek’s passing.
Cliff Bastick, the proprietor of Mildenhall MX, first revealed that they had a fatality at the track today,” in the message that was uploaded on Facebook on Sunday night. They continue to follow all required protocols with the local health and safety authority.
He further added, “Our thoughts are with the bereaved family at this time. I have run the track for 24 years and this is the second death within six months so we are deeply shocked by it.”
The other rider who died in the same location in September 2024 was 17-year-old George Edwards.
The Sunday smash was treated as a terrible accident by the police and the municipal council had been tasked with looking into it.
The young rider was honoured by close friend Bill Cox, who wrote on the internet that he would “hold onto” him “for the rest of his life.”
He posted: “George you were a brother to me the times we had were never dull.
“There was always happy laughter and brother I will never forget those times.”
In honour of George, who was going to turn eighteen, hundreds of friends gathered at Basildon’s Luncies Park to release balloons and fireworks.
Mildenhall MX acknowledged the death in an online statement, stating that it was the third in live memory.
