Alfie was born with a congenital heart defect and underwent surgery aged just six months. He also suffers with Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, which is a childhood hip disorder where the blood flow towards the head of the large bone in the leg gets disrupted. Due to the lack of blood flow, the bone eventually dies and stops growing correctly. As a result, Alfie has difficulties walking and has since been using a wheelchair since he was six years old.
