On day one of the inaugural Test match between Pakistan and the West Indies in Multan, history was written when the West Indies used spin for the first time ever in the opening over of a test match.
Touring captain Kraigg Brathwaite pitched the ball to left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie after Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first. At that moment, history was written because the West Indies had never used a spinner to start a test match in 582 of their prior test matches.

Motie was born to Kanhai Motie and Tarmattie Harrilall and is last of three children the other two being girls, sisters Angela aged 32 and Rada aged 31. His name is always a topic for debate since a few web sites has his name as Motie-Kanhai while others list him as just Gudakesh Motie.

Gudakesh Motie career
Gudakesh Motie is a Guyanese cricket player who represents Guyana in West Indian domestic cricket. He bowls left arm orthodox. He made his international debut for the West Indies cricket team in December 2021.
At the 2014 Under-19 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, Motie represented the West Indies under-19 team. In November 2015, he played in the 2015–16 Regional Four Day Competition against the Windward Islands, marking his first-class debut for Guyana. He was included on Guyana’s roster for the 2019–20 Regional Super50 competition in October 2019.

Motie was included in the West Indies’ Twenty20 International (T20I) and One Day International (ODI) teams for their series against Pakistan in November 2021.
Motie scored 110 runs against Barbados in May 2022, his first-ever century in first-class cricket, during the third round of the 2021–22 West Indies Championship. He was included in the West Indies squad for the Test series against Australia in December 2023.
He was included in the West Indies team for the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in May of that year.
