The tragic incident took place at the firm’s Park Avenue office in Manhattan on Monday evening.
The family of Wesley LePatner, a Blackstone executive killed in the shooting remembered her as a “loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and relative, who enriched our lives in every way imaginable.”

“To so many others, she was a beloved, fiercely loyal and caring friend, and a driven and extraordinarily talented professional and colleague,” her family said in a statement.
LePatner was one of four people killed when a gunman opened fire in the building’s lobby before going up to the 33rd floor and the victims include NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, another man, and two women, including one woman who was found dead on the 33rd floor.
Blackstone’s web site identifies LePatner as senior managing director.
Authorities have identified Shane Tamura as the NYC shooter who stormed the 345 Park Avenue skyscraper just before 6:30 p.m. Tamura reportedly opened fire and fatally shot three civilians and a police officer. As panic echoed through the upper floors, police officers quickly evacuated the building and later discovered Tamura’s body on the 33rd floor, where he had apparently taken his own life.
Shane Devon Tamura, 27, went into 345 Park Ave. in midtown just after the end of business Monday armed with an M4 rifle and opened fire in the lobby and again on the 33rd floor before he eventually killed himself with having a documented mental health history.
The NFL offices were located on the fifth floor of the building he targeted and also houses some of the country’s top financial firms, including private equity giant Blackstone, and KPMG.

Financial firm Blackstone identified Wesley LePatner as the executive who was killed in Monday night’s shooting in New York City. "Words cannot express the devastation we feel,” the company said in a statement.

Wesley LePatner killed in NYC shooting
The tragic shooting took place on Monday evening, when a gunman entered Blackstone’s headquarters at 345 Park Avenue and opened fire. The shooting killed four people, with one of the four victims being Wesley LePatner, who was a senior executive at the firm and CEO of BREIT. Authorities later identified the shooter as Shane Tamura, who ultimately died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident took place shortly after 7 p.m. and sent panic through the high-rise office, prompting an emergency response.

Wesley LePatner who was a Jew was the CEO of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, who recently passed away in a tragic shooting. She was 43 years old at the time of her death and she had built an impressive career in real estate finance. She originally hailed from the United States and rose through the ranks in one of the most competitive industries. LePatner was known for her strategic mind as well as for her integrity and leadership. Wesley was also a devoted wife and mother, and described as deeply grounded and family-oriented.

Career
Prior to joining Blackstone, Wesley LePatner worked at Goldman Sachs, where she gained significant experience in investment and asset management. She later joined Blackstone, where she has been working for over a decade, eventually becoming the CEO of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust. She is also the global head of core+ real estate and also served on the board of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
