Joy Ogbonne Eze of Nigeria, who competed in the clean and jerk round, was unsuccessful in all three of her tries, making Harjinder Kaur the ninth medalist from India at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Sarah Davies of England took home the gold.

Who Is Harjinder Kaur?
Harjinder Kaur is an Indian weightlifter who is recently been in the news because she won the bronze medal for India in the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 which were going on in Birmingham.
She was born on 14 October 1996 in Punjab’s Mehas village. Her family lived in a one-bedroom house. Her father is a family farmer and his name is Sahib Singh. Her family lacked the resources to finance her profession. She also has one elder in his family and his name is Pritpal Singh.
She did her schooling at Nabha’s Government Girls School, Punjab. After this, she attended SGTB Khalsa College, Anandpur Sahib, Punjab. She’s enjoyed kabaddi since she was a young girl. She first took part in kabaddi, then tug of war, and finally weightlifting.
Harjinder Kaur participated in kabaddi while in high school and afterwards for the college squad. Kaur’s coach Paramjeet Sharma saw her ability and assisted her in developing her talents when she entered the athletics program at Punjabi University.
After being introduced to the sport while in college, she started weightlifting for the first time in 2016.
Presently, she is 25 years old.
Her Career
In 2017, Harjinder Kaur won a gold medal in the 3rd Women Inter-State National Weighlifting Championship (Kolkata). In the same year, she won a silver medal in 35th Women Senior National Weightlifting Championship (Kolkata).
Later in 2022, she won a gold medal in the Senior Nationals Championship (Orissa) in the women’s 71 kg category. Now, recently, she won a bronze medal in Commonwealth Games (Birmingham) in the women’s 71 kg category.
