Soon after Mirabai Chanu won the gold medal in the 49kg category, Bindyaraniย set a new games record by snatching 202 kg in the snatch part and then lifting 116 kg in the clean and jerk.

Who Is Bindyarani Devi?
Bindyarani Devi is an Indian weightlifter who is known for competing in the 55 kg weight class. She has recently won the silver medal in the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022.
Her real name is Bindyarani Devi Sorokhaibam. She was born on 27 January 1999 in Indiaโs Manipur state. Locally and nationally, she is commonly referred to as “Mirabai 2.0” since Mirabai Chanu, a silver medallist from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, is also from Manipur.
Her father is a farmer who also owns a grocery shop. Due to her short height, she opted for weightlifting as her career from a younger age.
Her weight is 55kg and she is currently 23 years old. She is currently unmarried.
Her Career
At the 2016 World Youth Championship in Penang, Malaysia, Bindyarani Devi made her international debut. In her first significant competition, Bindyarani came in at number ten overall.
After earning India’s first medal at the World Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Bindyarani gained national attention.
Bindyarani Devi won the gold medal in the women’s 54-kg Clean & Jerk 55-kg competition. The then-22-year-old lifted a total of 198 kg to complete the theft for her nation (with the best being 114 kg).
She qualified for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom, in 2022 thanks to her silver medal victory in the 2021 Commonwealth Championships. And again in the 2022 Commonwealth Games 2022 which was going in Birmingham, she stunningly won the silver medal.
