Chris Curtis got his first paying job in 2006 at the 890 ESPN after he graduated from Boston College. In early 2008 Chris Curtis started working for ESPN Radio in Bristol, Conn. as producer of “All Night with Jason Smith.”

A Boston-based radio host Chris Curtis was slammed online for saying a racial slur to describe ESPN sports journalist Mina Kimes on Wednesday, on 22nd of March 22, 2023.
During the episode of WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show, Chris Curtis and co-hosts, Greg Hill, Jermaine Wiggins, and Courtney Cox discussed the “top five nips.” This discussion of nips came about as Boston City Council plans on possibly banning small liquor bottles because they are often littered and are also too tiny to be recycled.
While other hosts have mentioned names such as Fireball, Skrewball, and Dr. McGillicuddy, Chris suddenly cut in and smiled, he told, “I would probably go to Mina Kimes.”
The hosts which were present there continued with their discussion and didn’t seem to focus much more on what Chris Curtis had replied.
While the conversation between show hosts was about small liquor bottles, which are also pronounced as nips but to netizens it seemed like the way Chris Curtis used it was as a racial slur. As per reports, Nip is a disparaging and offensive slang that is generally used for describing a Japanese person. It is a short term for Nippon, which is a Japanese name that is used for referring to the country.
Some people have even pointed out that the 37-year-old ESPN journalist wasn’t Japanese but of Korean descent and she is a native of Omaha, Nebraska.
