Walter Andrew “Bubby” Brister Brief Bio

Bubby Brister, full name Walter Andrew “Bubby” Brister III was born on 15 August 1962 in Alexandria, Louisiana, United States. He is currently 60-years-old and married to Bonnie Brister.

Brister covered a total of 14,445 yards during professional career and had a passing rating of 72.3.

Bubby Brister played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for many teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, Denver Broncos, and Minnesota Vikings.

He was first drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 1986 NFL Draft after playing quarterback in college for Tulane and the then Northeast Louisiana (University of Louisiana Monroe).

Bubby Brister’s Son

Bubby Brister’s son, Walter Andrew Brister IV recently got involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident where a 44-year-old man Jude Jarreau succumbed to death.

The tragic accident occurred on Ben Hur Road, close to the Louisiana State University campus late on Saturday.

Following the incident, Andrew Brister handed himself to Baton Rouge police, on Wednesday. Initially, the 21-year-old jock fled the scene but later turned himself in, according to police spokesperson Lt. Don Coppola Jr.

The police are certain that Brister was driving the Range Rover that hit Jarreau as he crossed the street. Jarreau died instantly on the spot.

Walter “Bubby” Brister NFL Career

Brister made his NFL debut in October 1986, when Pittsburgh played against the Cincinnati Bengals. Although the Steelers lost 24–22 in that game, Brister passed for 191 yards and scored a rushing touchdown.

He established himself as the Steelers’ starting QB from 1998 after winning a three-way competition between him, Steve Bono and Todd Blackledge.

Brister had career highs in 1990 for starts (16), passing yards (2,725), and touchdown passes (20). He went on to play for the Steelers for seven years, and left the franchise in 1993.

Brister sat out the 1996 season after making brief appearances as a backup quarterback for the Eagles and New York Jets.

Despite of playing for so many franchises in his career, his most successful stint came with the Broncos from 1997 to 1999. There he won the Super Bowl XXXII and the Super Bowl XXXIII, even though he wasn’t the primary quarterback.

He played with the Broncos for three seasons, after which he signed for the Minnesota Vikings. Brister played for the Vikings in 2000.

Brister then went on to join the Kansas City Chiefs in 2001. However the team, released him before the start of the season, after which Brister decided to retire from football.

Bubby Brister finished his career with a passing record of 1,207 completions in 2,212 attempts for 14,445 passing yards and 81 touchdowns.
