Vijaykumari married Jaggi Aka Sadhguru in late 1984. The former banker met Sadhguru in the city of Mysore and the duo met at a lunch to which a friend had invited Sadhguru. They had their wedding on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri which is an annual festival dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
Vijaykumari’s career, education, and family
Vijaykumari was known as the wife of Vasudev, better known as Sadhguru. Vijaykumari was the mother of Radhe Jaggi, who is presently a famous Indian classical dancer. Vijaykumari worked at a bank before getting married and later on, she started teaching yoga.
She studied and graduated with a degree in commerce and she worked as a clerk at the State Bank of India in Bangalore, India. After marrying Sadhguru, she became a yoga teacher at Rishi Probhajar’s SSY.
Vijaykumari’s death raised a number of concerns. On the 23rd of January in 1997, the former banker attained her Mahasamadhi. Her father filed a First Information Report at the Coimbatore Police Station accusing Sadhguru of murdering her daughter because her cremation happened very fast. The police started an investigation.
They spent eight months looking into the allegations and questioned Sadhguru about events that led to his wife’s death. Before her death, a doctor had examined her and claimed she had died of a heart attack.
Vijaykumari and Sadhguru were married for more than six years and welcomed their first child, Radhe Jaggi in early 1990. Before her birth, Vijaykumari was always keen on having a child.
She helped out her husband to establish Isha Foundation Vijaykumari and supported her husband throughout their early years of marriage in his work as a yogi teacher. In early 1992, the duo founded Isha Foundation, which is a non-profit spiritual organization in Coimbatore, India. Foundation hosts Isha Yoga Centre, which they formed in late 1994.
It offers yoga programs intended to introduce a sense of compassion and inclusiveness. In 2014, when Radhe Jaggi was 24 years old, she got married to Sandeep Narayanan. The wedding ceremony happened at her father’s Isha Foundation.
