The 55-year-old Vijay Kumar Singh, who was known as a devoted member of the BJP by his coworkers and family, left his home in the Jehanabad district village of Kalpa Khurd on Thursday morning. He was excited that the party was finally staging a sizable protest rally against the Nitish Kumar administration.
A district BJP leader, A K Singh, said, “He was excited about the Vidhan Sabha march because it was the first state-level event the party had held since Kumar snapped ties with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in August and joined forces with the RJD, the Congress, and the Left parties to form the Mahagathbandhan government.”
Vijay Kumar Singh Scummed To With Due To Injuries During Lathi Charge
Singh passed away a few hours later, purportedly from wounds received during a police lathi charge during the BJP’s demonstration against the Bihar government’s teacher hiring policy. One of the demonstrators’ demands was the resignation of Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the deputy chief minister.
The 55-year-old’s family laid the responsibility for his death on the police, saying he had no serious medical issues. Pushpa Devi, Singh’s wife, called for a high-level investigation into her husband’s passing.
She said, “When my husband left the house, he was in good health and he died due to a police atrocity.”

Singh is a first-generation politician from a Rajput family of modestly wealthy farmers. The eldest of seven children born to a retired head clerk, he joined the BJP in 2003 and was elected panchayat president three years later.

He began his ascent through the district’s party ranks. He was appointed Jehanabad block president in 2003. In 2009, he was made the party’s district secretary. Singh was chosen to serve as the BJP’s district general secretary last year. He is a Hindu by religion.

The BJP state president, Samrat Choudhary, asked, “Singh’s passing won’t be in vain. When the postmortem has not yet been performed, how can the state government comment on Singh’s death’s causes?”
Additionally, the party would commemorate “Black Day” on Friday and hold district-level dharnas against “police excesses” on Saturday.
According to Ajaydeo Kushwaha, the BJP district president for Jehanabad, “Vijay Singh was a steadfast BJP supporter and used to fulfil the work allotted to him with absolute honesty.
