Just two days after the incident, the US State of Indiana came out to express its grief over the incident, while wishing him a speedy recovery and their regret over the incident.

Varun Raj Pucha is an Indian student who recently got stabbed in the head while at a gym. He currently resides in Indiana, USA, to pursue his MS from Valparaiso University. Aside from being a student, he also does a part-time job for his survival.
Parents and family
Varun’s father’s name is P. Ramamurthy, who works as a teacher in Telangana’s Khammam. Aside from that, there is no other information available about his family as of now. According to reports, Varun’s family met the Transport Minister of Telangana, P. Ajay Kumar, after the incident to request immediate medical help for his son. Meanwhile, the Telangana government has assured Varun’s family that they will do their best to provide Varun with all the help he needs through Telangana NRI friends and the Indian Embassy.

The tragic incident took place on Sunday, October 29, 2023, in a public gym called Planet Fitness Club. A fellow gymgoer named Jordan Andrade stabbed Varun in the head with a knife at the Planet Fitness Club massage room in Valparaiso, Indiana. Following the incident, police arrested Jordan Andrade, and authorities rushed Varun to Fort Wayne Hospital. According to doctors, Varun’s fighting for his life, and his chances of survival are zero to five percent. Varun currently remains under observation in the hospital.
Motive behind the attack
According to the police, Jordan Andrade stated that the motive behind the attack was simply because he believed Varun was a threat to him. He stated that he just reacted back to him because he found Varun a little weird and was convinced that he would have assassinated him. Jordan even mentioned that while attacking Varun, he didn’t move from his chair, nor did he instigate him. Varun reportedly only tried to push him back when Andrade started attacking him. According to the other gymgoers, Varun was a quiet and reserved person, but definitely not creepy at all.
