Vaibhav Pandya, the stepbrother of Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya, was arrested by the Mumbai police’s Economic Offence Wing for allegedly defrauding the Pandya brothers of almost ₹4 million in business, according to news agency ANI.
According to reports, back in 2021, Vaibhav stole almost Rs 4.3 crore from the joint firm, causing losses for the Pandya brothers. Together with the Pandya brothers, the accused Vaibhav founded a polymer company in which he held a 20 percent ownership and Hardik and Krunal 40 percent, each.

According to reports, Vaibhav unlawfully boosted his profit share from 20 percent to 33.3%, severely impairing the financial situation of Krunal Pandya and Hardik while the company’s profit was to be split into three, but in the same ratio.
According to a police source who spoke with Business Insider, one of the cricketer brothers confronted Vaibhav after learning about the company’s losses.
Who is Vaibhav Pandya?
Vaibhav Pandya is the step brother of Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya. Not much is known about him however, in one of his posts on his Instagram account, he mentioned Hardik and Krunal’s late father Himanshu Pandya as “Papa” with Himanshu believed to be his father.
The 37 year old did his schooling at New English School Mumba and Bachelor’s in Commerce from IES High School, Bandra-East in 2006.
He also has a brother named Gauraw Pandya who is elder than him.
On his Instagram account bio, with the username @vaibhavpandya06, he has mentioned himself as an “entrepreneur.” He has amassed around 37.9k followers as of this writing.
On his account, Vaibhav doesn’t shy showing off his love for sports. He often shares pictures of him donning Mumbai Indians jersey or sometimes in Los Angeles Lakers; the NBA franchise which has won 17 NBA Championships.
Vaibhav also shares pictures with several cricketers including Mahendra Singh Dhoni, AB Devilliers, Sourav Ganguly and many more.
Not much about his personal life is known but he often shares pictures of him with his family on his social media account.
