During his high school years, McEwen was a member of four state championship track teams. A one-time Olympian, McEwen has competed in the World Championships three times, placing 5th in 2022 and 7th in 2023, and he was the first non-qualifier for the final in 2019.
He also secured a silver medal at the World Indoor Championships 2024 and has won a Diamond League meeting. McEwen is trained by Lawrence Johnson and is sponsored by Nike.
Representing the United States, McEwen has competed in numerous international events, including the Olympics and World Championships.
