Born in Queens, New York, to Barbadian parents on October 19, 1994, the right-handed American batter initially aimed to play for the West Indies. He made his List A debut for Combined Campuses in 2016 and his first-class debut for Barbados in 2017.

Jones debuted for the United States in an ODI in 2018 and earned his first T20I cap a year later. The 29-year-old’s highest ODI score of 123 not out came against Scotland in August 2022, while his unbeaten 94 is his best in T20 cricket.

Jones joined the Rangpur Riders for the 2023 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) but did not get a chance to play. He faced a similar situation with the Seattle Orcas in the inaugural season of Major League Cricket (MLC) in 2023. He is a Christian by religion.

The right-handed batter smashed 10 sixes in his match-winning innings as the USA defeated Canada by 7 wickets with 14 balls to spare. Canada had set a challenging target of 195, which seemed daunting at the halfway stage.

However, Jones’ record-breaking performance ensured the USA reached its target with ease. Jones remained unbeaten on 94 off 40 balls, an innings featuring 4 fours and 10 sixes.

This achievement made him only the second cricketer in the world to hit 10 sixes in a T20 World Cup match, following the legendary Chris Gayle. Additionally, Jones became the first player from an associate nation to reach this milestone, earning the USA their first two points in the tournament.

After the seven-wicket win over Canada, Jones stated that pressure brings out the best in him. “I don’t think it is easy to put it into words. Happy to get my team over the line.

“I thought anything under 200 was chaseable. We wanted to play aggressive cricket. I think I go through my process while I practice. To be honest, when my team is under pressure, it gets the best out of me.”
