Chikara opened the inning for Rinku Singh’s Meerut Mavericks and hammered the Kanpur Superstars bowling lineup all over the place. Rinku Singh of the Kolkata Knight Riders came in and contributed effectively from the other end, scoring 42 off 22 balls to help them to a respectable total of 204.
Who’s Swastik Chikara?
Chikara rose to prominence in 2019 after scoring 585 runs in 167 balls in a local tournament. Based on this scorching inning by Swastik Chikara, a 16-year-old starter, his team also established a world record by scoring 704 runs.
Chikara was also chosen to represent Uttar Pradesh U-25 in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy in January of this year, when he scored 371 runs with an average of 53.00 in six matches. Uttar Pradesh exited the tournament in the quarterfinals, losing by an innings and 16 runs to Punjab.
The 18-year-old cricketer was born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India on 2005-04-03. Currently Swastik is playing for the Meerut Mavericks, Uttar Pradesh Under-25 team.
In Match 4 of the 2017 Uttar Pradesh T20 League, cricket fans were treated to a fantastic show of batting prowess and tremendous hitting. The thrilling match between the Meerut Mavericks and the Kanpur Superstars at Green Park turned out to be a high-scoring game, with both teams scoring 200 points or more.
Kanpur Superstars vs Meerut Mavericks
After being put in to bat by the Kanpur Superstars, the Meerut Mavericks got off to a good start. Shoaib Siddiqui and Uvaish Ahmed created a solid platform, with Siddiqui scoring 29 runs off 22 balls, including four fours and one six.
Swastik Chikara, on the other hand, stole the event with a sparkling century. Chikara’s blistering 100 runs from 57 deliveries, which included 13 fours and three sixes, laid the groundwork for a big score. Chikara hit at a fantastic strike rate of 175.44 and remained unbeaten to help Meerut reach a challenging total.
Rinku Singh, the previous game’s standout, contributed 42 runs off 24 balls, while Divyansh Joshi’s quickfire 17 off 4 balls, including two sixes, boosted the total. The Kanpur Superstars bowlers struggled to keep up with Meerut’s batting barrage.
The Kanpur Superstars, led by Sameer Rizvi, put on a magnificent show of power-hitting while chasing a target of 205. Ansh Yadav delivered 48 runs off 39 balls to provide top-order consistency. However, it was Rizvi’s searing knock that stole the show.
Rizvi hammered an astonishing 122 runs off just 59 deliveries, including six fours and 11 sixes. The Superstars’ score was increased by Akshdeep Nath’s cameo of 25 runs off 14 balls, while Sandeep Tomar contributed.
The Meerut Mavericks bowlers struggled to stop the tide of boundaries and sixes. Kunal Yadav grabbed one wicket for 38 runs, while Vaibhav Chaudhary took one for 37 runs.
