Who is Mohammad Aman?

Mohammad Amaan is the current captain of the India U-19 cricket team at just 18 years and 110 days old. A right-handed batter who can also bowl leg-spin, Amaan is a resident of Khan Alam Pur, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and has also showcased his talent in the UP T20 League.

As per his bio, Mohammad Aman, born on August 15, 2006, is an Indian cricketer.

As per various reports, Aman become orphan at the age of 16 and weighed down with the title of “head of the family,” when his mother, Sayba died during the Covid-19 pandemic leaving Aman’s three young siblings in his care.

His father, Mehtab, who was a truck driver, reportedly died due to long illness, after suffering from severe injuries that he sustained in an accident. The batsman hails from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Amaan, who has been playing cricket since 2014 had said, “My father used to work in a private company, but in 2019, he met with an accident and was severely injured. Due to the injury, he lost his job. He passed away last year. Before that, my mother passed away in 2020 due to Corona. I was devastated by these two shocks.

Despite these hardships, the player has previously captained the Uttar Pradesh U-19 team and is currently captaining the Indian U-19 team against Japan.

Mohammad Aman’s Performance

Aman played an unbeaten knock of a total of 122 runs off 118 balls, hitting seven fours vs Nepal in the 2024 U19 Asia Cup. He batted fearlessly against all bowlers, maintaining an impressive strike rate of 103.39. Alongside him, Ayush Mhatre contributed a quickfire 54 runs off just 29 balls.

Openers Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryawanshi added 65 runs for the first wicket. Additionally, Andre Siddharth scored 35 runs, and KP Kartikeya played a crucial knock of 57 runs off 49 balls. By the end of 50 overs, India posted a massive total of 339/6.

At the time of writing this article, Japan had scored 50 runs in 13.4 overs, losing one wicket. India began their Asia Cup campaign with a match against Pakistan, which ended in a loss. Pakistan posted 281 runs, and in response, the Indian Under-19 team managed to score only 238 runs.
