Michael Gough is an English cricket umpire who was born on December 18, 1979 in Hartlepool, County Durham, England.

Michael Gough is also a former cricketer who was a right-arm off-break bowler and a right-handed batsman. As a member of the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires, Gough officiates international matches on behalf of the England and Wales Cricket Board.

He began officiating international matches in 2013 and has refereed numerous Twenty20 Internationals and One-Day Internationals since then. On July 28, 2016, he officiated his first Test match, which was between New Zealand and Zimbabwe, at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

In April 2019, he was announced as one of the sixteen umpires to officiate matches during the 2019 Cricket World Cup. He won the ECB Umpire of the Year award for an amazing eight years in a row starting in 2010.
