The 2.06m (6’9″) Malian scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in UConn’s 76-59 victory over San Diego State as the Huskies easily beat their opponents to win the college championship.
The first championship triumph for UConn in nine years will be remembered fondly thanks to centre Sanogo, who follows Shabazz Napier, Kemba Walker, Emeka Okafor, and Richard Hamilton as previous winners of the MOP award.

Where is Adama Sanogo from?
On February 12, 2002, Cheickne Sanogo and Awa Traore welcomed to Sanogo, their sixth child. In the family, there is one boy and four girls.
According to CTInsider, his father runs a car wash and his mother owns a clothing store.
Sanogo decided to focus on football rather than basketball when he was younger.
As he grew taller, his pals advised that he try basketball. But until his uncle Tidiane Drame, a basketball scout who ran camps across the country, convinced him to practise hoops, the adolescent didn’t consider switching sports.
Despite his initial plans to study in France, the young Malian was intrigued by Drame’s descriptions of life as a basketball star in the United States.
Sanogo travelled across the Atlantic to attend Our Savior New American on Long Island for his secondary education before transferring to The Patrick School in Hillside, New Jersey in 2015 after switching to basketball and without any prior understanding of the local language.
He averaged 13.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game during his senior year of high school, garnering notice for his size and rebounding skills.
